Conversations with Leading Scholars in Hebrew, Biblical, Religious, Jewish, and Ancient Near Eastern Studies
The Scholarly Interviews page presents an academic communication initiative jointly developed by the Institute for Hebrew Language and Literature and the European Hebrew Journal.
The aim of this initiative is to introduce researchers, students, and the wider academic community to the work of distinguished scholars in the fields of Hebrew language and literature, biblical studies, religious studies, Jewish studies, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, the Hebrew Bible, biblical textual criticism, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Jewish history and literature, archaeology, the history of religions, theology, and other related disciplines.
The interviews feature discussions on significant scholarly questions, current research projects, methodology, publications, and developments across different academic fields. Particular attention is given to the scholarly contributions of the interviewed researchers, their professional experience, and the advice they offer to students, early-career scholars, and prospective authors.
The complete interview database is hosted on the official website of the Institute for Hebrew Language and Literature. This European Hebrew Journal page presents selected interviews, short video excerpts, and links to the full video conversations, edited transcripts, and PDF editions.
Edited transcripts may include an abstract, keywords, bibliographical notes, and a recommended citation format. Selected interviews may also be archived in the Zenodo scholarly repository and assigned a permanent DOI.
Publication Status
The interviews presented within this initiative are not part of the numbered issues of the European Hebrew Journal and do not constitute peer-reviewed research articles published by the journal. They belong to a separate academic interview series of the Institute for Hebrew Language and Literature, produced in cooperation with the European Hebrew Journal.
The transcripts are edited for clarity, readability, and linguistic accuracy without altering the substance of the interviewee’s responses. The final version of each transcript is published only after approval by the interview participant.
Although these interviews have not undergone external peer review, they may serve as valuable and citable sources for the study of scholarly views, methodological approaches, research activities, and the professional experience of the interviewed scholars.
